How would you like to be at the forefront of Shell’s renewable energy ambition. This role will give you the opportunity to develop and implement the long-term strategy for power, natural gas, and renewables trading business within the WECC region of the United States.

What is the role?

Shell is looking to hire an experienced trading supervisor that will manage a growing portfolio of gas and power assets, linked by infrastructure, supply and end use customers, and trading relationships. The Supervisor of Gas and Power Trading (Pacific Northwest or Desert Southwest/CAISO) will manage and set strategic direction for business development, build strong working relationships, and create a value chain across supply, transportation and customer sales outlets, while optimizing the portfolio.

Accountabilities

Supervises a team of 5-6 Gas and Power traders in achieving annual gross margin trading targets as designated by GM Trading.

Manage physical and financial power, natural gas trading in the relevant regional market.

Manage financial and physical options trading and valuation for speculation and hedging.

Managing an extensive portfolio of generation, transmission, transportation and customer load.

Develop long-term business and trading strategies.

Lead and maintain a culture where Compliance is a Priority and the highest standards of integrity and ethics are maintained in all interactions with industry participants, customers and internally with other team members and colleagues.

Continually evaluate market positions and develop customer product offerings including complex multiyear structured transactions with Origination.

Collaborate and work in partnership with internal teams such as Finance, Credit, Legal, Structuring, Operations, Regulatory, Fundamentals, Contracts, Market Risk.

Part of West Gas and Power leadership team – will take lead role in setting culture and standards of performance in addition to strategy and overall direction of West

What we need from you

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Mathematics or Engineering. Master’s Degree preferred.

Minimum of 10 or more years of experience in the relevant gas and power markets.

Minimum of 10 or more years of trading experience with options, futures, forwards and other derivatives.

Fundamental understanding of the relevant gas and power markets.

Demonstrated ability to make quick and well-reasoned decisions is critical.

Strong leadership track record of leading a team, developing staff, managing budget, focus on compliance, respect for colleagues, and the capacity to work across boundaries with other Shell Trading teams and Functional groups.

Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, strong written and verbal communications skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced team environment

Leadership skills, decisiveness, respect of colleagues, and the ability to work as a team within a group and with other groups within Shell are critical qualities for the position.

Knowledge of fundamental simulation forecasting tools and the manner which these can be used to identify opportunities

Knowledge of Environmental Products traded in the West.
