Responsible for garments classification (HTS tariff codes) and build good relationship with sourcing teams
Interactive with Supply Chain IT to automate current business processes (eg. Product Lifecycle Management system)
Develop and maintain global standard framework for processes and procedures (Custom Compliance Manual)
Communicate effectively and attend meetings with U.S. customs (audits), brokers and vendors
Resolve issues and be intermediary between Carters and third parties (customs, vendors, etc.)
Manage and train department staff and review their work (ACE, etc,,)
Advise/ be actively involved with international and supply chain teams regarding import requirements for multiple countries
Work closely with the supply chain organization to help implement product cost reduction programs (dutiable base reduction, duty drawback, free trade zones(FTZs), etc.)
Experience and Skills
Minimum of 8 years of experience managing customs and international trade compliance programs
Brokerage license required
University degree or significant business experience
Previous experience as a Customs Officer is a plus
Strong mathematical and analytical skills with an emphasis on accuracy
Must be honest and dependable
In depth understanding of U. S. Customs Rules & Regulations and Harmonized Tariff Codes and requirements
Solid communication and negotiation skills with management and third parties
Must have the ability to read and understand complex import/export rules and regulations and apply them to business process and operations
