Position Description:
With AUM and total client assets at $1.7 trillion and $2.5 trillion, respectively, J.P. Morgan Asset Management (AM) is one of the largest asset and wealth managers in the world. We serve four distinct client groups globally: institutional and retail clients through J.P. Morgan Asset Management (AM), and high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients through Global Wealth Management (GWM), which includes the Private Bank and J.P. Morgan Securities. We offer global investment management in fixed income, equities, solutions, real assets, hedge funds, private equity, and liquidity. We provide trust and estate, banking, and brokerage services to high net worth clients, and retirement services for corporations and individuals.
The Global Fixed Income, Currency & Commodities group of AM is responsible for managing approximately $500 billion in assets under management for institutional, high-net-worth, and retail client taxable, investment grade fixed income portfolios globally. The US Fixed Income Derivatives Trader’s primary responsibilities and necessary qualifications are detailed below.
Responsibilities
• Execute daily fixed income derivatives across multiple asset classes for the portfolio management team in a timely and economical manner consistent with internal policies and procedures
• Fully understand bilateral vs cleared derivatives and market place practices
• Have a strong understanding of liquidity provision and interactions with the dealer community
• Articulate and provide market and pricing color and trends to portfolio managers / research analysts / traders
• Analyze “cheap” versus “rich” derivative relative value opportunities in relation to liquidity, curve and spread scenarios based on prevailing and projected market environment
• Manage compliance and regulatory requirements for trade executions and allocations
• Assist portfolio managers and research analysts in the investment decision making process
• Support the wider New York trading desk across the entire fixed income trading spectrum and demonstrate strong teamwork
• Assist Head Trader in compiling and analyzing trading metrics for management and compliance reporting, as appropriate
Position Requirements:
Qualifications
• Minimum of three years prior buy-side or sell-side bond trading experience
• Knowledge of fixed income derivatives industry, markets and terminology
• Knowledge and familiarity with core trading technologies (Bloomberg, Tradeweb, Marketaxess)
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong PC skills (Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Strong analytical/problem solving ability
• Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments; handle multiple tasks/projects/people
• Flexible - willing to assist where needed
• Hold a bachelors degree or equivalent in Business, Finance, Mathematics or Economics
• Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, or progress towards the CFA designation, preferred
