Trade Compliance Manager Job Description

The Global Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for leading and further developing the global trade compliance strategy for Edgewell, ensuring adherence to all customs import and export regulations. The position holder will work closely with internal leadership and stake holder teams to drive improvements in strategy, processes, technology, and the organization, in alignment with Edgewell’s corporate guidelines. They will provide functional guidance and oversight to a global trade compliance team, driving adherence to country specific regulations. They will build and maintain partnerships with internal and external customers and suppliers to deliver on service and continuous improvement.


•Provides leadership, direction and focus to the organization’s trade compliance function

•Gaining a deep understanding of the organization and becoming thoroughly familiar with the existing supply chain relationships and needs

•Drives continuous improvement, best practices and standardization through the understanding of global trade regulations, while assessing existing and future requirements of the organization

•Becomes a trusted and valued partner and business leader in the management of an integrated global supply chain

•Effectively manages third party relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, customs representatives and suppliers

•Manages and continuously improves the Trade Compliance organization. Assesses the current team and recommends development changes to address identified capability gaps

•Supervises staff to include hiring, training, evaluating performance, providing compensation recommendations, driving development opportunities and determining disciplinary actions when necessary

•Directs the activities of a global team to include overseeing the development, administration and implementation of policies, procedures, programs, goals and objectives to ensure compliance with global trade policies and regulations

•Administers and monitors the departmental budget including allocating resources and approving expenditures

•Serves as a liaison to Executives regarding customs questions, direction, and strategies

Trade Compliance Manager Job Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of management experience in trade compliance, logistics, operations, and customer service or related discipline

•Knowledgeable on import and export regulations and other applicable governmental initiatives such as, but not limited to: WTO, HTS, FTA’s, COO’s, C-TPAT, ISA, ACE, FDA, SDS’s and hazardous materials

•Understanding of an international supply chain, including the effects of customs regulations across the broader spectrum of our business and its performance

•Familiarity with international transportation and associated customs documentation

•Exposure to and expertise in programs such as Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement practices and the ability to bring those to bear in the trade compliance environment

•Strong interpersonal and business communication skills – both written and verbal

•Strong results focus and goal achievement skills

•Ability to work in a team environment and solve problems

•Strong analytical, organizational and planning skills

•Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office

•Proven leader capable of long and short term strategic planning, driving positive change across an international organization

•Strong collaborative skills while a proven influencer able to gain trust and confidence from peers, leadership and subordinates

•Able to work and travel across multiple time zones

Working Relationships & Environment

•Position will be based in Milford, CT

•International travel required 25%

•Will need to manage flexible hours given international leadership role

•Ability to lead cross culturally

•Mange both direct and indirect line reporting
