We are seeking a Trade and Sales expert to join our Retail Brands team in Bloomington, MN. As a Senior Manager, Trade Marketing, you will be responsible for working with national customer teams to drive Trade and Customer Specific Sales initiatives. You will have opportunity to work closely with field sales, marketing, finance and demand planning to ensure alignment with the go-to-market strategy. You will be integral in achieving annual volume and profit goals, by providing the sales force with the selling tools, materials, point of sale and product knowledge sheets they need to be effective. You will partner with the finance team in trade analysis and manage the overall trade budget for your customers. This Senior Manager will lead a team of 1-2 Associate Trade Managers and Analysts.
Work with sales leadership and marketing teams in the annual planning process to develop the annual trade marketing review for the customers.
Participate in the development of category or customer strategies as well as the selling/marketing/promotional plans for the customer. Ensure timely execution and management of strategy initiatives and the processes' key elements.
Provide sales and trade expertise in the development of customer or broker programs and supporting material. Ensure alignment across sales and marketing teams to ensure effective field sales execution.
Work closely with marketing team to develop annual volume and trade spending plans for the customer's categories and brands.
Oversee customer trade fund allocations targets and account- specific promotion planning. Manage and reconcile trade funds. Conduct and review post promotion ROI analyses.
Create and communicate all promotional elements to support programs- including the creation of new launch selling tools. Rank track and publish all new launch results.
Track performance on a continuous basis to ensure that volume goals are achieved within trade spending parameters. Review markets with problems and/or areas for opportunity and develop action plans accordingly.
Ensure the continual development of overall category expertise that will position the division as the category expert with customers. Develop presentations that will enhance the customer and division profits.
Provides leadership and training for Associate Trade Managers and Analysts.
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Years of Related Experience: 9-11 years related experience (preferably in CPG or retail trade industry with HQ sales planning or category management). Experience in a customer facing role (ex. Account Management or Category Management) is a plus.
Strong analytical background with prior knowledge in trade optimization programs and trade expenditure policies
Excellent strategic agility and critical thinking skills
The desire to make a meaningful difference. Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Authentic leader: direct communicator, and ability to develop and motivate a team
Ability to build strong relationships across the division, with all levels
Must have great collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively lead and influence cross-functional teams
Excellent business acumen and a passion to innovate
Experience working with syndicated data (IRI or Nielsen) preferred; Advanced computer skills including MS Excel required
Strong organizational, project management and time management skills
