The Customs & Trade Compliance (CTC) Specialist will ensure compliance with Customs, FDA, USDA and other applicable government agency requirements by adhering to and promoting the Teva USA Customs/OGA Compliance Program, performing product compliance reviews, monitoring broker and supplier compliance, updating our Compliance manual, assisting with internal audits, assisting with process improvement, educating internal/external stakeholders and associated responsibilities.
This role requires a highly-motivated, detail-oriented, experienced Customs & Trade Compliance professional with extensive Customs and other government agency expertise as well as the ability to comprehend complicated compliance issues and translate to ensure non-CTC stakeholder understanding.
The Specialist must excel at conducting meticulous, accurate and high-quality research, mastering complex situations and intricate compliance issues, monitoring regulatory changes, as well as understanding and communicating the impact to internal/external stakeholders. The ability to function in a high-paced and challenging environment is critical.
This position reports to the Senior Manager, CTC and will work closely with our CTC team based in North Wales, PA.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform meticulous Compliance reviews of each imported item to ensure full Customs and OGA Compliance, including but not limited to: Free Trade Agreements, valuation, classification, import permits and so forth
Meticulously input detailed product and Customs/OGA information into the electronic Product Library as well as audit other team member’s entries
Diligently monitor entry status, intervene as necessary and respond to information requests from Customs, FDA, Census, USDA, OGA, broker & stakeholders
Actively engage and support the transition to our upgraded electronic Customs and OGA Product Library
Assist with the integration of multiple acquisitions into our centralized Compliance Program
Assist with CTC Compliance Manual and associated SOP/work instructions review, recommend and implement revisions and process improvements
Support the introduction and transition of our new centralized and streamlined logistics service providers
Provide feedback and subject matter expert support as we streamline and implement new processes and training: Commercial, Procurement, R&D, Clinical Supply et al
Support existing CTPAT program and assist with the integration of multiple acquisitions and new logistics service providers
Cross train with internal and external team members to ensure full understanding of compliance program and operations, as well as providing backup
Follow Teva Safety, Health and Environment policies and procedures
Other projects and duties as required/assigned
Experience: Required: 6 years’ experience working with Customs and other agencies
Preferred: 8 years’ experience working with Customs, FDA and other agencies
Specialized or Technical Knowledge licenses, Certifications needed: Licensed Customs Broker: Required prior to employment at Teva
NCBFAA CCS (Certificated Compliance Specialist): May obtain CCS after starting at Teva
Must maintain CCS while employed at Teva (earn annual credits, as required by CCS)
Functional Knowledge: Minimum six years Customs and Trade Compliance experience
Pharmaceutical experience preferred
Intermediate MS Word and Excel skills
Company / Industry Related knowledge: Experience working in a government regulated environment preferred
CBP ACE system experience a plus
Proven ability to develop and maintain productive, trusting and respectful business relationships
