Position Overview: The Senior Energy Operations Specialist in CAISO Settlements will perform analytics and calculations of settlement charges assessed by CAISO over a portfolio of utility owned generation, power purchase agreements, and demand response resources. The position is part of a team of Energy Operations Specialists reporting directly to the Senior Manager of CAISO Settlements. The successful candidate will have strong analytical and problem solving skills and be detail oriented. This position is in the Energy Procurement and Management organization which is contributing to SCE\u2019s goal to be recognized by our industry as a high performance organization. Responsibilities: \u00b7Plans all aspects of analyses, presentations, and implementation strategies for a complete\u00a0 complex analysis, often of moderate or major significance and\/or risk to the Company. \u00b7Understands ISO markets and correlations to SCE\u2019s power contract payments \u00b7Utilizes multiple industry recognized systems such as PCI, SettleCore, PowerBI to validate\u00a0 and analyze market results \u00b7Knowledgeable about sources of data and resources available to integrate and present\u00a0 information regarding CAISO market mechanisms as it relates to settlements. \u00b7Utilizes existing or devises new, innovative models and methodologies to correlate large\u00a0 volumes of data into understandable conclusions. \u00b7Preform queries to formulate algorithms and create macros. \u00b7Understands system capabilities and communicates CAISO settlements business knowledge \u00b7Establishes recommendations and conclusions based on analysis of complex data. \u00b7Maintains a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe\u00a0work practices; and performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: \u00b77 years of experience in functions related to ISO settlements, systems analyses, electricity trading or marketing.\u00a0Demonstrated understanding of the California Independent System\u00a0 Operator (CAISO), PJM,\u00a0NE-ISO, MISO, or NYISO market design. \u00b73 years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access \u00b73 years of experience in writing SQL queries to retrieve data from Oracle and SQL Server\u00a0 databases. \u00b73 years of experience in building spreadsheet models using VBA coding for macros and\u00a0 forms. Desired Qualifications: \u00b7Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or Engineering \u00b7Experience with CAISO Settlements and energy and capacity markets and technologies such\u00a0as renewables, conventional power, combined heat and power, demand response,\u00a0 energy storage and\/or natural gas. \u00b7Experience with validating energy, capacity, and emissions settlements. \u00b7Experience analyzing complex financial, regulatory, and\/or business problems. \u00b7Experience with financial and\/or quantitative analyses. \u00b7Strong foundation in statistics, mathematics, and computer programming with respect to data\u00a0 sciences and big data analytics. \u00b7Experience with Tableau, Power BI, and other visual analytical tools to be used for trending\u00a0 analyses. \u00b7Experience working with cross-functional teams. \u00b7Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare reports and\u00a0 present complex technical information to a wide audience, in non-technical language. \u00b7Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, initiative, and interpersonal skills as well\u00a0 as the ability to effectively multi-task and enthusiastically engage in continuous learning.
