General Purpose Negotiates sales and purchases of wholesale power, transmission and financial instruments, consistent with the strategic direction of the Company. Identifies sales\/purchase opportunities and aggressively negotiates energy sales and purchases with other utilities\/organizations and\/or financial institutions. Develops professional relationships with wholesale power marketers, traders, brokers, and the financial community to enhance the Company\u0092s ability to profitably grow the wholesale power business. Responsibilities Sell or purchase energy, to balance current system load and resource requirements. Collaborate with other real-time traders to optimize available generation assets such as thermal, hydro and wind. Negotiate the sale or purchase of power within the day to maximize profitability and utilization of resources. Collaborate with resource management, forward and gas trading to develop the most efficient operating strategy. Monitor the dispatch of the Company\u2019s generating assets on an hourly basis. Establish and maintain professional relationships with wholesale power marketers, traders, brokers, and the financial community. Requirements Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Finance, Economics, Marketing or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Analysis skills in order to understand market conditions and to identify sales\/purchase opportunities. Negotiating skills in order to identify, negotiate, and close on sales and purchase opportunities. Communication and interpersonal skills to develop industry contacts, establish relationships, influence others\u2019 positions and negotiate outcomes. Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools to support trading activity. Understanding of financial modeling, risk assessment, commodity management, electricity and natural gas trading practices.\u00a0 Position work hours are non-standard. Preferences Prior experience in energy trading. Analysis skills in order to understand market conditions and to identify sales\/purchase opportunities.
