Description The New York Derivative Trade Support Specialist will work in the Global Derivative Operations area of Morgan Stanley Investment Management supporting the Long Only, Liquidity, Alternatives, and Merchant Banking & Real Estate businesses. IM Derivative Operations is increasing its support of critical areas impacted by new regulatory requirements and expanding business initiatives by developing an integrated team that provides an appropriate support infrastructure to focus on the new derivative regulatory environment. This individual will be part of the Derivatives Trade Support team consisting of six individuals based in the NY office responsible for supporting derivative trading in the US executed by the MSIM Trading and Portfolio Management Teams. The team oversees trade processing, trade affirmation and trade notification responsibilities for futures, options and swaps and serves as a main contact point for the Investment Management front office teams. The ideal candidate for this position will have a thorough knowledge of derivative trading and settlement processes, general exposure to recent regulatory changes impacting derivative markets, a broad understanding of listed and OTC derivative product characteristics, and an ability to develop and enhance relationships with portfolio managers, traders, IT, legal, and external trading entities such as counterparties and executing brokers. Responsibilities: Perform daily processing responsibilities focused around trade processing, block trade allocation communication, trade affirmation, and trade notification. Interact with various third party service providers, such as custodians and accountants as well as various executing and clearing brokers. Continually review and improve processes to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Understand and be able to communicate key regulatory changes that impact derivative trading and product support. Support current business initiatives within the team. Any other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelors Degree (Finance, Economics or Accounting preferred) and a minimum of 4 years of experience in financial services operations or similar role. A good understanding of the investment industry and various financial products. A high degree of organization and an orientation toward strict attention to detail. Demonstrated success working in a high volume, high intensity environment and an ability to get closure on issues promptly. Facility with common corporate technology platforms and applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook etc. Professional maturity, self-confidence, decisiveness and outstanding business judgment. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently.
