Vista Outdoor™, with a brand portfolio in our ammunition lane is seeking an experienced Trade Marketing Manager to join our team. Detail-oriented, customer-focused creative multi-taskers with excellent communication skills and passion for outdoor sporting will be particularly attracted to this challenging and rewarding position. The essential responsibility of the role is to execute trade strategies and build commercialization programs to deliver segment targets within the brand/category they support.

Act as a highly collaborative liaison between Brand Marketing, Product Development, Sales and customers including integration of all marketing and trade initiatives to ensure a cohesive marketing plan execution with clear, consistent, meaningful communication

Putting in place, executing and improving processes to link all Marketing activities with the activities of the Sales team. Work closely with Marketing Directors to improve processes that link corporate brand building activities and Product Development activities with Sales activities

Manage cross-functional teams in execution of trade marketing programs within budget and timelines for all trade channels

Analyze and communicate post-promotional results then recommended actions to continually enhance program ROI and execution

Collects and analyzes channel / regional promotional pricing and pricing activity vetting to be in line with programming requirements and cost-to-serve, to ensure they are within GPL and Brand pricing guardrails

Assist in developing and presenting business-building plans and programs through comprehensive understanding of consumer/customer insights to create conversion (consumer, category, competitor)

Compiles and analyzes market, shopper / end-user, and channel knowledge gaps for line/category reviews

Manage and support the selling process in conjunction with Sales including all sales communications and materials, coordinating deliverables timelines across multiple functions to ensure Sales team is fully equipped for successful sell-in

Analyze SKU-level sales data to gauge performance and provide recommendations to increase sales velocity and optimize product mix

Identify, review and create compelling traditional and innovative business-building customer program opportunities in conjunction with customers and Sales including co-marketing initiatives to present recommendations for (customer) buy-in

Assist in identifying and securing new distribution opportunities and merchandising support across key accounts/channels

Lead liaison in new product planning from sales

Support the annual trade management planning process relative to area of responsibility (GPL)

Aligns planning process with Vista and customer planning calendars

Understands brand and customer priorities and uses the planning process to drive strategic alignment

Aid in the recommendation of SKU assortment priorities, financial guidelines and synergies across customers and brands within area of responsibility

Provide input for monthly integration meetings during the S&OP process to help to ensure forecast accuracy

Work closely with the brand teams to manage through SKU rationalization and disposition on E&O

Collaborate extensively with trade marketing team to share ideas, insights, best practices and leverage joint marketing programs


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in marketing or related field required, MBA preferred

Strong, classic Trade/Customer Marketing background with a leading consumer packaged goods company

Proven success working in a fast paced environment where strategic brand-building efforts are complemented by hard-driving promotional activities

Proven ability and desire to help build a Marketing infrastructure, including processes, methodologies and tools required to drive Marketing effectiveness

4-5 years CPG Trade Marketing, Marketing, Category/Channel Management or Sales experience required

Outstanding presentation, interpersonal and written communication skills required

Familiarity with CPG trade channels (Mass, Sporting Goods, Outdoor Retailer, Specialty & Wholesale) required

Passion for and experience with outdoor sporting, hunt/shoot recreation is preferred
