Job Description Varian seeks a trade compliance professional to facilitate the Company\u2019s business by assisting with development and continuous improvement of internal import, export and sanctions compliance controls. The role also would support trade-related aspects of business expansion (such as for M&A, new product or location development). \u00a0 The role presents a fantastic opportunity for an early to mid-career trade compliance professional to build upon prior experience for program development and transformation globally.\u00a0 The role reports into the Director and Senior Counsel, Export\/Sanctions in Varian\u2019s Global Trade team. The preferred location for this role is Palo Alto but other potential locations are Atlanta, Washington DC or remote (in the US). A successful candidate would be able to work cross-functionally and cross-regionally to ensure alignment across the business and across the globe.\u00a0The candidate should have knowledge of US export and import regulations and project management experience. Experience with non-US export\/import law is desirable. Roles & Responsibilities \u00a0 Assist in building, implementing and monitoring trade control improvements to support import, export and sanctions compliance worldwide. Develop and maintain import\/export procedures along with related communications and training. Provide support for trade-related training and communications, and manage internal trade website. Develop assessment and audit program (with support from Global Trade team). Develop trade-related metrics for management. Includes supporting investigations, audits and other compliance matters as directed. Work cross-functionally with a variety of stakeholders to support the Global Trade Team in developing and implementing import, export and sanctions controls. Manage import\/export\/sanctions files and records in compliance with applicable government and internal requirements. May provide occasional support on import and export operational activities such as import (HTSUS) and export (ECCN) classifications, restricted party screening and order hold releases. Job Requirements Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge \u00a0 3-5 years of experience in US trade compliance (import\/export\/sanctions) regulations (some of which could be derived from non-trade compliance roles) Excellent writing ability Strong project management experience Good presentation and communication skills Ability to work effectively in cross functional and international teams Strong organizational skills Ability to work as part of a team or independently, think critically, and prioritize workload \u00a0 Experience Level with Business Tools \u00a0 Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired. Experience with SAP\/GTS or other similar trade management software desired.
