Develops a thorough understanding of clients' shipping requirements and patterns. Establishes sound customer service and data entry skills to support growth within current position. Gains job related regulatory knowledge of current position.
Reviews and processes day to day operations, evaluates and recommends equipment needs. Plans and schedules appropriate service line for situation (ground, expedited, air, ocean, etc.) to maintain an effective balance between service and costs.
Processes booking requests, prepares rate sheet and quotes, provides transportation track and trace support, and audits customer invoices.
Develops and analyzes pricing with specific focus on internal and external quote requests. Support pricing team with rate analysis and negotiations, with view to increasing operating margins.
Duties and Responsibilities
Compiles sell rates for air and ocean freight quote requests and responds to internal/external customers in a timely manner.
Assists with bids or procuring rates for out of scope shipments requiring competitive bidding.
Audits carrier invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with agreed tariffs, rates and contracts. Investigates and reconciles discrepancies, as needed.
Prepares all necessary data entry and confirmation of key milestones (departure, arrival, customs clearance, PODs, etc.) as specified by Customer Standard Operating Procedures, as needed.
Oversees and completes accurate billing to clients based on established client pricing, while ensuring accurate costs and profits are maintained.
Prepares timely management information and reports as specified and requested.
Maintains courteous, prompt and efficient customer relations.
Develops and maintains successful relationships with vendors (e.g. airline representatives, carriers, freight forwarders, custom brokers, local pickup and delivery companies, regional trucking companies, line haul providers).
Establishes and maintains all necessary procedures to assure a clean, properly organized, safe and healthy environment for all personnel.
0-2 years operational experience in international transportation, preferably with an international logistics provider.
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics
or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge and experience in PC and Mainframe, spreadsheets and databases (Excel and Word) applications.
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics.
2 years related industry experience.
Freight pricing/procurement experience.
Established knowledge of Inco terms and commercial invoice requirements.
