Equities and Funds Structured Markets (EFS) Solutions is Barclays’ dedicated cross-asset structured solutions provider and the primary business which trades Equity Derivatives in the bank. EFS covers a variety of business lines, including Arbitrage, Volatility, Exotics, Fund Linked derivatives and Convertible Bond trading.
Trading desks are currently in London, New York and Hong Kong with sales in offices worldwide. EFS is a vibrant and exciting business which has undergone spectacular growth in terms of trading volumes, global coverage, the breadth of product coverage and the revenue it generates for the firm.
About TPE Equities IT
TPE IT is a global department within Markets Post Trade Transaction Cycle which develops and enhances systems that cover all aspects of Trade Lifecycle from initial capture to maturity/expiry. Teams cover various asset classes and this role is for the systems related to Equity Derivatives.
Overall purpose of role
The purpose of the role is to have an experienced developer who will be the member of the global team responsible for building and enhancing the next generation of Barclays’ equity derivatives trade capture and lifecycle management platform. He will be responsible for the development and timely delivery of new and/or existing software working with project managers, software engineers both internal and external to TPE - Equity Derivatives IT. He will also be responsible for interacting with the end users in New York from time to time to understand issues/feedback and incorporate the same in developing solutions.
The Senior Developer is expected to
· To be able to come up with detailed technical design and solution for problems in the equity derivatives trade booking and STP domain and to be able to implement the solution.
· Work with Development Managers globally to understand and contribute to the system architecture and ensure that the development is in line with the strategy and the overall roadmap.
· Work with global team to Implement standards & best practices for software development and ensure compliance to the process including but not limited to unit testing and continuous integration.
· Use exiting IB and finance domain knowledge to validate the accuracy of the technical solution and adherence to requirements. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the processes and the system.
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
Strong proficiency in ONE of the following skill sets AND have basic knowledge/programming experience of either ONE of the other two skill sets
b. C#/.Net 4.0 or later (3-4 years)
c. Core Java skills including but not limited to Generics, Collections, Multithreading, I/O, Streams and JDBC are required and the candidate should be proficient in reading, writing and debugging multithreaded java code (3-4 years)
4 years demonstrated strong problem solving skills – should be able to understand a complex problem and translate the solution into a program using OOPS fundamentals. In addition, the person should be able to demonstrate strong proficiency in writing unit test cases for his solution.
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in technologies supporting development, continuous integration and deployment including but not limited to Spring, maven, xml, JSON, NuGet, TeamCity etc
Knowledge of Equity Derivatives Products and Trade Capture/Lifecycle management.
Knowledge of Oracle Coherence and related relevant experience
Web development using Silverlight, Asp.Net
Knowledge of messaging platforms such as MQ and Solace and related design patterns for producing and consuming messages.
Familiarity with unix shell scripting and/or Python.
