Shell Energy America is seeking a senior level Energy Analyst to join our Medium to Long Term Analytics team housed within our Energy Trading division. This position is responsible for developing medium (2 to 5 year time horizon) and long term (5 to 20 years) natural gas and power views for the US, Canada and Mexico. The two primary customers of this role are Energy Trading and Upstream.
This role is responsible for bringing all the internally derived Supply, Demand, Infrastructure views together and modeling those key drivers within GPCM, Aurora, and Custom In-house models to derive the medium to long term price forecasts by region by country. The emphasis is on developing both qualitatively and quantitatively advantaged capabilities, supported as appropriate by models, tools and techniques that yield high quality insight. Collaborating with peers in the Fundamentals team to build scalability in this respect is essential. This position must build credibility with Energy Traders and Upstream colleagues to ensure analytic insights will be translated into commercial gain.
Manage/Run Aurora power model for US, Canada, and Mexico
Manage/Run Gas Model (GPCM) for US, Canada, and Mexico
Manage/Run Gas Supply Custom models for US, Canada, and Mexico
Manage/Run/Develop Renewables Energy Outlook
Identify and evaluate the implications of major trends and developments in Gas/Power markets
Work with LNG Analysts to develop US, and Canada export forecasts
Work with South Desk and Mexico based analysts to develop US to Mexico exports forecast
Consolidate Short Term regional Analyst’s Supply/Demand views into GPCM
Consolidate Short Term regional Analyst’s Supply/Demand views into Aurora
Work with Upstream geologists to bring competitive advantage to Gas Supply modelling
Expand contacts, both internally and externally, to improve the quality and timeliness of intelligence.
Maintain positive relationship with external consultants and leverage information and analysis that they provide in order to maximize productivity in supporting Shell Energy America
Capture synergies between the Short Term and Long Term Fundamentals teams
Must have excellent communication and presentation skills
Build strong networks across Royal Dutch Shell
Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
BA in Accounting/Engineering/Mathematics/Economics/Econometrics/Business/Finance or related field
Must have at least ten (10 ) years of Energy Analytics experience in Energy Trading environment
Must also have at least ten (10 ) years of experience in supporting commercial trading activity with analytics
Must be able to develop Fundamental views based on quantitative analysis that will be translated into profitable trades and investments
Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relations at multiple levels and across teams
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
Ability to filter multiple perspectives for commercially actionable intelligence
Must have high functioning proficiency with Excel
Preferred: GPCM modelling experience
Preferred: Aurora modelling experience
Preferred: Gas Supply modelling experience
Preferred: Experience with Spotfire and ZEMA
