Under general supervision, the Portfolio Trader I is responsible for trading discretionary accounts within Stifel’s internal advisory programs. The Portfolio Trader I is responsible for all transactions associated with portfolio changes, model maintenance, periodic rebalancing, and monitoring accounts to ensure that model portfolios are being maintained. The Portfolio Trader I will collaborate with other areas of Advisory Operations, Advisory Marketing, Advisory Compliance, and Stifel’s order room to ensure completion of daily work.
Trade new accounts based on model portfolios with client restrictions taken into consideration.
Ensure that trades are executed, average priced, and uploaded to the system.
Periodic review of accounts for rebalancing back to model.
Maintain model portfolios and percentage allocations for internally traded portfolios.
Daily review of cash report to determine if any accounts need to be traded.
Trade additions and withdrawals for Stifel’s internally traded accounts to meet client requests.
Responsible for account terminations that involve the liquidation of securities for Stifel’s internally traded accounts.
Trade corrections on internally traded and third party manager accounts.
Other duties, as assigned by Manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite including Excel.
Ability to learn trading systems
Understanding of regulations and policies as they pertain to advisory accounts and basic understanding of the Investment Advisor Act.
The ability to communicate information and ideas in spoken or written form so that others will understand.
Ability to prioritize, organizational skills and strong attention to detail skills. Ability to work under pressure in high risk situation.
Strong mathematic skills and their applications.
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
LICENSES & CREDENTIALS
Series 7 within 12 months of hire; first attempt within 6 months of employment; second attempt within 8 months, final attempt within 12 months of hire.
A maximum of 3 exam attempts can be made to pass the required exam.

Failure to pass the exam within 12 months results in termination of employment.
In lieu of termination, a qualified associate may apply for a transfer to an available/open non-exam required position but has no guarantee of acceptance.
